The Crucible breaks

For the first time ever, in an electrifying theatre event, Arthur Miller’s timely thriller The Crucible unfolds in the Globe Theatre this summer, for a limited nine week run. Consumed by paranoia, superstition and a ruthless sense of justice, a climate of fear and mass hysteria sweeps through the town of Salem, Massachusetts when rumours grow that a group of girls are practicing witchcraft. What lies are the townspeople prepared to tell themselves in order to survive? Revolutionary, award-winning American playwright Arthur Miller’s seminal, political history play about Salem in 1692, and McCarthy’s 1950’s America, is a timeless warning to us all. Ola Ince (Othello, 2024; Romeo and Juliet, 2021) directs this visceral, gripping, ultra-live adventure into a desperate, dangerous world where everyone is implicated, and nobody is safe.
